According to authorities a group of bicyclists were shot at in South Los Angeles with four of them sustaining injuries. Three of the bicyclists suffered injuries that they are expected to recover from and a fourth rider is listed in critical condition. Police stated the shooting incident occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2011, resulting in the four cyclists being transported to area hospitals.

The shooting incident occurred at Long Beach and Vernon Avenues on the group of bicyclists that ranged in ages between 18 and their 20s. Police believed early in their investigation that the shootings on the group of bicycle riders could have been gang related and are still investigating. They have not identified or arrested the person responsible for the shootings of the bicycle group in South Los Angeles.

Strachan said the women and her granddaughter were in the vehicle and uninjured. The woman told investigators she was pulling into a handicapped parking space and accidentally hit the gas instead of the brakes. According to Capt. Stone customers and employees were shaken up, but there were no major injuries and there was no major structural damage to the building reported.
